Chandigarh, April 29, 2015 : In wake of recent earthquake in Nepal lending scores of causalities, Chandigarh based NGO Suraj Foundation today organized a Blood Donation Camp to show their solidarity towards the victims. The camp was organized in association with the Blood Transfusion Department, PGI at Sector 35 Chandigarh which witnessed a massive participation from youth. The camp was inaugurated by Rajiv Tiwari, District Treasurer Officer & Executive Magistrate along with Rahul Gupta (PCS), Controller Printing & Stationary and Additional Inspector General (Prisons), Chandigarh, UT. Noted Punjabi actor and fitness expert Anil Juneja was also present on the occasion to strengthen this campaign.
According to Sandeep Arora, Founder of Suraj Foundation, “The main objective of organizing the camp is to provide relief for victims in neighboring Nepal. We had approached to PGI to make the provision to transfer the blood units through Air Force relief dispatch. We, at Suraj Foundation have decided to send this collection from Camp to Nepal at our best possible way. PGI had been very thankful to our previous 13 editions of Blood Donation Camps and we feel this time massive participation from youth for this noble cause was well appreciated.’’
A total of 112 units of blood collected during the camp. The donors were felicitated by certificate and mementoes by the Suraj Foundation.
