CHANDIGARH, SEPT 17 :Oil and Natural Gas Corporation of Delhi defeated last year’s runners-up State Bank of Mysore by eight runs in a rain-truncated match of the 15th All India J.P. Atray Tournament for the Pearl Trophy at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium here today.
The match was interrupted at 11.14 a.m. With ONGC score reading 101 for 3 in 26 overs. After a brief interruption the match resumed at 12.12 p.m. with the overs being reduced to 44. ONGC at the end of 44 overs had posted a total of 184 for 8.
Winning the toss ONGC skipper Gagan Khoda had elected to bat. Medium pacer Chetan Williams drew the first blood when he had opener Radhey Shyam snapped by wicket keeper Tilak Nayudu for an individual score of one and team’s total reading at 18. The other opener Sandeep Sharma was joined by skipper Gagan Khoda and the two put on 45 runs for the 2nd wicket before Gagan Khoda holed out to S.P. Manjunath off the bowling of left arm spinner Nurudeen for his individual score of 17.
Sandeep Sharma, who hit seven boundaries, was next to go when he stepped out to drive left arm spinner Katti and was castled for a well Made 43 off 73 balls. Ajay Ratra in company of Mohd. Saif took the score go 146 and in the process stitching a 45-run partnership for the 5th wicket. B. Akhil had Mohd Saif caught by Shoib for a well made 31 off 52 balls.
Chetan had Ratra caught by Katti for a polished 45 off 61 balls inclusive of 4x4s. Chetan Williams (4 for 42) off 8 overs won the Man of the Match Award.
