CHANDIGARH, MARCH 9 :North Zone finished a creditable first runners-up in the 4th All India Civil Services Golf Tournament which concluded at Qutab Golf Course in New Delhi on Sunday
According to North Zone Civil Services Golf Society president CRS Reddy a 10-member North India Team was selected from States of Punjab, Haryana, J&K, Himachal Pardesh, Chandigarh and Rajasthan. The final tournament was Held on March 7 and 8 for 36 hole at Delhi. Seven Zone of the country took part for the final event i.e. North Zone, Delhi Zone, Central Zone, Western Zone, Southern Zone, Eastern Zone, North East Zone.
As many as 70 golfers, who qualified in their respective zones, were converged on Qutab Golf Course, Delhi. These Golfers were from Civil Services like IAS, IPS, IAAS, BSF, IRAS, Engineers from both State and Central.
Delhi Zone were declared winners and North Zone first runners-up and Eastern Zone second runners-up. The final score for both days was Delhi Zone 953, North Zone 958 and East Zone 975.
Other award winners: Longest Drive for Day I was 340 yards by Alexendra De. Longest Drive for Day 2 was 316 yards by Harinder Pal Singh Bedi. Nearest To Pin was 6 feet by R.K. Arora.
The Tournament was inaugurated by Vice President of India Mr. M Hamid Ansari on March 7 2009 at 7 A.M. and Union Sports Minister M.S. Gill was the chief guest for the prize distribution on Marchj 8.
