30 Sep : “No encroachment on government land will be allowed and the concerned Inspector will be criminally liable for dereliction of duty in case any construction is allowed on government land” stated Shri Ram Niwas, Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration while chairing a meeting today regarding anti encroachment drive in the city. The meeting was attended by the senior officer of the Administration.
The Home Secretary directed that in view of the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in a judgement delivered yesterday, a Committee has been formed under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, consisting of Shri P.K. Sharma, Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Engineer or his representative, Assistant Estate Officer. This Committee will inspect each religious structure in the city and will submit its report regarding the name of encroacher, duration of encroachment, type of encroachment and plan of action to remove such structures. It was also decided that in future, if any persons is found indulging in any kind of encroachment on public land, concerned nodal officer should immediately get an FIR registered against such persons for grabbing the government land.
