Barinder Saluja, Chandigarh , Nov. 22 : The MCM Rotract Club organized the Annual MCM Rotract Princess Contest with a view to celebrate beauty for the purpose of helping the society. The Chief Guest for the event was Dr. Neetu Narula who was among the TOP Five contestant of Gladrags Miss India Contest.
The event took off with a song performed by the children from SOREM an institute for special children. The theme of the event was fashion centric with the purpose of simultaneously developing confident personalities and nurturing a spirit of public service. The event raised funds which will be utilized to provide solar lanterns to victims of the LADAKH Flash Floods as promised by the MCM Science Club during the recently held National Seminar on “Global Environmental Issues and Climate Change”. The MCM Rotract Club has been diligently working with the Sahayata Cancer Society, SOREM, Old Age Home of Sector 15, Bal Niketan and the slums around Chandigarh. The MCM Rotract Club was also declared the BEST ROTRACT CLUB of its district last year.
The event which included fusion dances and Bhangra Performances and 22 participants walking on the ramp with the message of beautifying the earth were in line with the International Earth Day Celebration on throughout the globe.
Nimrat was the winner of MCM Rotract Princess Contest. Muneet and Gitika were the first and second runner-up respectively.
Principal of the college Dr. Puneet Bedi hailed the event as an annual feature of the college to merge the two main objectives of the college: Development of Strong and Confident personalities for its stakeholders and service to the society. Dr. Bedi congratulated the winners and urged them to be role models for their contemporaries as begetters of prosperity and happiness to the society.
