The India Post, Mohali, 5th November, 2008 :Opening Ceremony of the sixth batch ushered in the new era in security training.
A total of fifty two Junior Security officers joined OSSIM at Mohali for their one year course in Security and Intelligence management. A major breakthrough in Security training was made with induction of this course, as this is first time in India that ten foreigners will also be undergoing such a course.
Vedanta Resources plc, a London listed FTSE 100 diversified metals and mining group, had short listed candidates from all over India and abroad to finally select fifty two candidates . All Trainee Officers are First class science graduates and NCC certificates holders. Some of them have prior work experience too. Out of ten Zambian students three are lady trainee officers. They belong to different parts of Zambia (Lusaka, Kitwe, Livingstone, Ndola and Chililabobwe ). Forty two trainee officers from India have come from all over India like Rajasthan, Tamilnadu,Chattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion Capt Ravee, Managing Director, OSSIM said ““A career in this industry is not only a well paid one but also professionally satisfying.” Addressing the newly inducted trainee officers, Director OSSIM, General J. S. Ghumman said “As young and aspiring Security Officers, you should be the best in your field. You should emerge as persons who ‘make the things happen and not see the things happen’.
Security education is the need of the hour in India and this field would give a new line of career for lacs of unemployed graduates in the country.
