The India Post, Chandigarh,14th November,2008 : Nehru Yuva Kendra, Chandigarh celebrated its foundation day and children Day at Government Model Middle School, Sector-23, Chandigarh. Around 200 participants from UT participated in the programme with great zeal and enthusiasm.
This programme was also part of "Children’s Day" dedicated to First Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. During the day, a host of programmes and activities like speech competition, dance and instrumental performances were presented by the participants.
In the beginning of programme project officer Bharti Dabas welcomed the guests and participants and briefed about the programme. Chief Guest Sh. Sukhdev Singh, Deputy Director, Punjab & Chandigarh Zone, was welcomed by Dr. G.S. Bajwa, Distt. Youth Coordinator, NYK, Chandigarh. During the programme Sh. Sukhdev Singh gave account of 36 years of services of NYKS to non student rural youth. He told that NYKS is largest community based non political organization of its kind, which caters non student rural youth with youth clubs in districts countywide.
Dr. G.S. Bajwa briefed about the importance of Foundation day and Children’s Day celebrated by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, throughout the country. After the motivating address of the Dr. Bajwa, speeches on the life-span of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru were given by participants named Saroj, Monica, Kamaljeet Kaur and Ravi from different teen clubs and beneficiaries of the services of the NYK, Chandigarh. After that Jugal-Bandi and cultural performance were presented by Aman Sharma on Tabla and his sister on Sitar and Chandni respectively.
