Barinder Saluja, Chandigarh,March 26 : YTTS has conducted the FIRST EVER THREE Day training camp in HUMAN RIGHTS for the Training Staff of NCC in Chandigarh from 24th to 26th Mar 2011. The staff consisted of nearly 65 Officers , JCOs, Senior NCOs of the ARMY, NAVY and AIR FORCE units of Chandigarh NCC Group in addition to NCC part time ANOs with various schools and colleges of the UT. Prominent speakers and experts who conducted the sessions include Dr Swarnjit Kaur and Dr.Namita Gupta of Human Rights Dept PU, Mrs Satpal Nalwa, Former HOD Law Punjabi Univ, Dr Sunaina and Dr.Sachiv Kumar of AIL Mohali, Dr Devinder Singh and Mr Dinesh of Law dept PU, Mrs Veena Kumari of HRLN Chd, Mrs Anupama Prashar of Bhavan Vidyalaya Panchkula.The VALEDICTORY FUNCTION was held today, ie SATURDAY 26th Mar 2011 .
The participants were awarded certificates by Col. D.Gupta, Shaurya Chakra Commander Gp HQ NCC Chandigarh and Mrs.Bonny Sodhi. Col. Gupta urged to spread the awareness among the cadets about the human rights & to aware the people about their rights. He also said that in future too he will assure that these types of training sessions will be conducted from time to time so that many more can learn about human rights. He also added that not only Human Rights but on other social evil issues, training to the officers & cadets will be delivered.
Speaking to the press , Col Ravi Bedi brought out that the purpose of this training was to empower the trainees ,who are specialist in their own field but not legally qualified. The rudimentary knowledge of laws relating to its right from the United Nation Human Right Declaration to the latest Indian right to Education Act. This would give them an overall picture of human rights is able to be made available to the common man.
Dr. Sangeeta Jund, Head of the Programme informed the news person that we are making available simple pamphlets as also suitable chart material, which can be easily used in field classroom conditions.
