CHANDIGARH- November 21, 2008: Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with ICSSR is holding a National Seminar on “Kuka Movement: Historical, Literary and Cultural Perspective” on the eve of 150th Year Celebration of Kuka Movement on 25th November 2008. Sh. Charanjit Singh Atwal, Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha will preside over the inaugural session. Prof. R.C. Sobti, Vice-Chancellor will inaugurate the seminar and Prof. J.S. Grewal, renowned historian and Former Vice-Chancellor (Guru Nanak Dev University) will deliver the Key-note Address. Eminent scholars of different areas like Sociology, History, Literature, Philosophy and Political Science will present their research papers and will take active participation in discussions and deliberations.
On the theme of the principles of Kuka Movement in Cultural and Historical Prospective the contribution of this movement in the Freedom struggle of India, in development of Punjabi Literature, in Gurmit Sangeet and in women empowerment would be discussed at length in the technical session of seminar according to Prof. Jaspal Kaur Kaang, Convenor of the Seminar.
