23 August : The bus loads with tiny tots of AKSIPS 45 (Ajit Karam Singh International Public School, Sector-45 A, Chandigarh) singing ‘Hare Krishna Hare Ram’ stopped at the Lakshmi Narayan temple of Sector – 44, Chandigarh to celebrate Janmashtmi with devotion and religious fervour.
Cheers and excitement writ large on the innocent faces as they took rounds of the temple and enjoyed the Prashad. Back at school, they rocked the beautifully decorated cradle of Lord Krishna and sang ‘Natkhat Bansiwale Gokul Ke Raja.’ Dressed traditionally as Gopis and Krishnas with self made crowns adorning their heads, they listened carefully to the story of Friendship between Sudama and Lord Krishna narrated by their teachers.
Excitement rolled when Nandlal broke the Handi hanging high and everybody enjoyed fresh butter and sang ‘Maiya Mori Main Nahin Maakhan Khayo.’
