Chandigarh, May 11, 2019: Congress Campaign in Chandigarh got star-power when renowned Bollywood actor Mukesh Rishi came here to campaign for Pawan Kumar Bansal, the Chandigarh Congress candidate for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Rishi visited the Bapu Dham Colony and Sector 7’s Ramleela Ground to address huge crowds gathered there. Raising slogans in favour of Congress in an atmosphere filled with music, dhol beats and crowd cheers, Rishi urged the public to vote only for Pawan Kumar Bansal, as he’s the one most deserving to win from Chandigarh. “My relationship with Bansal ji 20-year old. I have always regarded him as my elder brother. Apart from being a very fine gentleman, Bansal ji has always inspired others with his honesty, integrity and willpower to do something positive for his people,” he said.
Referring to Chandigarh’s miserable Swachhata and smart city’s ranking, he said, “In the last five years the change that happened in Chandigarh is really shocking. It is only Bansal ji who can get back Chandigarh its lost glory and honour.”
Further he appealed especially to the youth to execute their right to vote. “I hope youth will come out in large numbers to vote in Chandigarh and a new change will ensue in the city with Bansal ji coming to power again.” He also expressed his wish to see Metro in Chandigarh.
Jaiveer Shergill, national spokesperson of Congress who was also present in Sector 7, said, “Just like the way Congress won last 3 state assembly elections in MP, Chhatisgarh and Rajasthan, on 23rd May, the same will happen at the national level when Congress comes to power.” He also said that Pawan Kumar Bansal’s victory from Chandigarh is sure.
Another national spokesperson from Congress, Charan Singh Sapra also graced the occasion with his powerful speech. “Raman gaye, Rani gayi, chale gaye sartaaj, agli baari aapki joomlo ke sartaaj”, Singh began his speech with these lines adding, “Pawan Kumar Bansal is the kind of person who knows his job the best. He’s extremely well-respected even at national level. Chandigarh was once said to be ‘city beautiful’. If you want Chandigarh to be no. 1 again, vote for Bansal.”
The former Union Minister, Bansal said that Rishi’s coming over to Chandigarh especially for Congress is a proof of popularity of Congress party in the city. He said, “We’re thankful to Mukesh Rishi for campaigning for Congress.”
Addressing the gathering, the former Union Minister said that BJP government had nothing to talk about development so they stooped so low that they started politicization of our army. In Chandigarh, our schools don’t have enough teachers, dispensaries don’t have doctors, roads are broken, parks are in miserable condition and people don’t have houses. Mrs. Kher, it seems, had no interest in working in the interest of the city, he added.
Other prominent personalities present included H.S. Lucky, Devender Singh Babla, Bhupinder Singh Badheri, Ish Sharma, Sonu Moudgil, Ajay Sharma, Vikas Soni, Karminder Singh among others.
