Chandigarh : The Hindustan Times Principal reporter Monica Sharma was awarded by Chandigarh police for acting as a samartian and giving tough chase to traffic offenders for about two kilometers, till they were caught at a dead end by a traffic cop that too in the journalist’s car. The New Horizons Award was handed over to the reporter by UT Advisor K K Sharma and UT IGP R P Upadhyaya at a function here on Tuesday evening.
The reporter driving on the road dividing Sector 44 and 51 chased youngsters after traffic cop asked her to catch hold of violators in November last year.
The car driver was nabbed in sector 44 D,challaned for `2,000 for rash driving and jumping red light, for which they humbly sought forgiveness from the cop.
