CHANDIGARH, AUG 24 :Mehta Gurukul Public School, Doraha had to work extra time to get the better of Anne’s Hockey Acdemy by 3-2 in the sudden death tie-breaker session after playing a one-all draw in the opening match of the seventh SN Vohra Memorial Sub-Junior Hockey for Under-14 Tournament being organised by Rock Rovers Club at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here today.
Harpreet Singh converted a penalty corner in the 12th minute to put Mehta Gurkul Academy in the lead which was neutralised by Harjot Singh in the 48th minute with a penalty corner goal.
In a contrasting style, Gopal Hockey Academy scored a fluent 5-0 verdict against Him Gold Academy of Solan in the second match on the opening day. Within four minutes, powerful Gopal Academy were three goals up. Centre forward Kawaljit Singh struck field goals in the first and third minutes. Inside-left Manjinder Singh found the target in the fourth minute with a penalty corner convesion.
On crossing over, the spotlight shited to Darshan Singh who banged home two field goals in the 53rd and 57th minutes to complete melt the Him Gold Academy.
