By Sanjay Pahwa, Chandigarh: The 12th meeting of Central Traffic Advisory Committee (CTAC) held under the chairmanship of Sh. Alok Kumar, Dy. Inspector General of Police, U.T. Chandigarh in the Conference Room, 3rd Floor, UT Police Headquarters, Sector 9, Chandigarh. The meeting was attended by the following officers:-
1. 20 members of Central Traffic Advisory Committee (CTAC)
2. Sh. R.S. Ghumman, IPS, SP/Oprs. U.T. Chandigarh
3. DSP/Traffic, UT Chandigarh
4. DSP/City, Panchkula
5. DSP/Traffic, Mohali
6. Officers of UT Engineering Department, Municipal Corporation, Town Planning Department, RLA/Chandigarh, STA/Chandigarh & CTU/ Chandigarh
At the outset, DIG/Chandigarh welcomed all the members of CTAC and also gave a detailed presentation of achievement of Chandigarh Traffic Police.
Many suggestions came from the members of the CTAC in various field of the traffic related maters of the city such as CCTV Cameras on light points, effective checking of TSR, Mobile Phone and drunken driving, proper provision of slip roads, pruning of trees, community parkings in sectors, adjustment of traffic light timers anti clockwise, introduction of multi story parking, deployment of traffic police in peak hours, proper marking in parking lots, effective public transport system, introduction of mini buses, car gear locks to avoid thefts, earmarking of parking for fire tenders, driving licenses more strict etc. etc. and chairman assured the suggestions will be taken up with the concerned department accordingly.
