MCM DAV College for Women Chandigarh, an institution acclaimed for its unwavering strife for providing holistic education to its students by capitalizing on the most contemporary methodologies of training, has added another feather to its cap by successfully inaugurating the MCM Photography Club, the outcome of unparalleled innovative envisioning and an indefatigable determination to accomplish something au courant. The Mass Communication Department of the college, which has always been a seat for learning the most contemporary skills in the field of Mass Media, under the most- enlightening guidance of Dr. Puneet Bedi, the Principal of the College, actualized the first ever Photography Club in the college with the laudable objective of furthering the college’s endeavors towards creating and utilizing the most exceptional resources for the personal and professional empowerment of the students thus transforming them into women of substance who are adept at surmounting all challenges in life. MCM Photography Club is a unique venture of the institution which has been modeled with a vision of recognizing and nurturing the budding photographers of MCM and providing them a platform to enhance their knowledge and skills in Photography. The club is an unrivalled prospect for the students to appropriate their passion into their profession. The club intends to bring alive its objective by providing students with exclusive opportunities where they will be able to imbibe from the insights and knowledge of life and skills of some eminent photographers. The event had a zealous start with students vying to showcase their allusive potential by penning down some artistic captions for some photographs thus assigning life and meaning to otherwise reticent depictions of art.
The competition encompassed a surfeit of innovative expressions and eloquent scribbles. The Caption Writing Competition was followed by a highly educative Workshop on Photography by Mr. Navneet Saxena, the Guest of Honor and the eminent photographer of great fame based in Chandigarh. He enlightened the students with his distinguished understanding and expertise in the field of photography. He was all praises for the industrious undertaking by the college in the form of MCM Photography Club and congratulated the college for laying a successful foundation to an association which is essential for empirical learning. After the workshop, the audience saw an unconventional inauguration to an unconventional endeavor.
The Guest of Honor Mr. Navneet Saxena declared the club open by clicking the shutter button of the camera which captured the monumental launch of the MCM Photography Club. The buoyant spirit commandeering the grand assembly in the hall experienced another stimulus with the announcement of the results of the Caption Writing Competition. Nimrat won the Landscape caption category while Ashreen bagged the first prize in Human Emotion caption category. Subhashree Nanda swept the title for best caption in Nature Photography while Pratibha Dixit won the Life in Motion category. Also joining the winning elite was Tarika Narula whose caption was adjudged the best in Flora and Fauna Category.
The Principal of the college Dr. Puneet Bedi was highly appreciative of the superlative effort on the part of the Mass Communication Department of the college. She insisted that such diligent associations were important in expediting the overall development of the students thereby infusing in them the ability to endure demanding situations in life and using such unusual opportunities to unearth new skills and professional prowess within themselves. She impressed upon the students the importance of making the most of the unique chances that MCM endlessly dispenses out to them.
Congratulation MCM College, You girls are lucky , we were interested for photography but that time their was restrictions by college.
The photography club will be good for the students of The Mass Communication Department of the college . I am surprised the college authority invited a non journalistic person for the inauguration. They must be not aware about Photography and Photojournalism. It was the duty of The Mass Communication Department to tell the write person for the students.
Good Luck !
