The India Post, Chandigarh, 2nd September, 2008 :The Music Department of MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organized an interactive session for its students with the singing sensation of Punjab, Vipul Mehta. Punjab’s representative in the Star Voice of India Contest, Vipul was invited to the college to pay a tribute to the sad demise of Ishmeet, who has been a friend to Vipul, and a role model and mentor for all budding singers.
The Principal of the college, Dr. (Mrs.) Puneet Bedi expressed her sorrow at the demise of Ishmeet and voiced her strong hope that the youngsters of the present day have enormous talent in themselves and its only with this capability that one can pay a befitting tribute to the departed soul. She also said that such an interaction with struggling stars and artists will boost the morale of the students of the college and inspire them to break new grounds with their vibrant capabilities.
MCM DAV College with its constant endeavour towards encouraging talent in its students and providing them with a strong foundation to achieve their goals, organized this interaction with a coupled purpose of providing its students with first hand guidance and inspiration from the rising star. The college takes every opportunity to give its stakeholders the inspiration which can enable them to emulate the successful and carve a niche for themselves. Vipul shared with the audience the pangs and travails he had to fight in order to reach the platform that he has and profusely expressed his desire to win the contest to pay a befitting tribute to his departed idol.
Vipul also performed for the students of the college who sang and danced with him to Punjabi folk songs and fresh Bollywood tracks. The students of MCM DAV College, including Priyanka Singh of MA I and Jaspinder of BA I not only displayed their professional talent with the budding star but also indulged in impromptu jugalbandis with him. Students also interacted with Vipul and learned about his experiences through the course of the contest.
