The India Post, Chandigarh, 20th August2008 : The Environment society of MCM DAV College organized slogan writing, poster making, essay writing and declamation contests to mark the occasion of Akshay Urja Diwas Two international interns were sent by an environmental organization Saplings-Care, We Share.
Juno from China and Isabelle from Germany jointly presented a comparative study on the environment issues in China and Germany. They also interacted with the students and answered their queries on the subject. Both Juno and Issabelle were extremely pleased at the enthusiastic response of the MCM students.
All students took a pledge to conserve energy and to switch to non-conventional energy sources and make India a global leader in Renewable energy sector. A documentary titled ‘The Rain Catchers’- a practical guide to solve your water problems was also screened for the students. The video showed urban rain water harvesting and explained its technique. It looked at policy dimensions, products, technologies and maintenance issues across a range of geoclimatic zones in India
.
The principal of the college Dr.(Mrs.) Puneet Bedi expressed her appreciation for the Environment society and the students who made this celebration a success.
