CHANDIGARH, APRIL 1,Requiring three runs in the last over, Ripu cover-drove Akshay (2 for 30) for bounday which enabled Mohali Cricket Academy snatch an exciting two-wicket victory over CCA-Guru Nanak Public School Academy of Sector 36 in a Pool B fixture of the Chandigarh Under-13 Inter-Academy 30 Overs Cricket Tournament being organised by Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy at the St Stephen’s School ground in Sector 45 here today.
MCA won the toss but elected to field. An unbeaten strokeful knock of 70 by Arpit Singh was the highlight of their innings. Unleashing his strokes with authority Arpit reached the fence 13 times and also hit a huge six as CCA-GNPSA-36 posted 156 for 9 in allotted 30 overs. Openders Yash Kapil (26, 3x4s) and Shivam Bhambri (19) gave GNPS Academy a solid start by putting on 40 runs for the first wicket stand. Right arm spinner Jassinder (2 for 31) and medium pacer Arunam (2 for 24) were the main wicket-takers for Mohali Cricket Academy.
In reply, MCA achieved their target off the last ball. They made 158 for 8.As the tension was mounting, MCA needed three runs in the last over to score win From five balls, MCA could collected only two runs. However, Ripu dispatched Akshay (2 for 30) to the cover boundary to seal GNPS Academy’s fate. Raman (43, 5x4s), Tejas 31 (6x4s), Sarthak Grover (26, 2x4s) and Sehaj (15) were the main batsmen for Mohali Cricket Academy.
GNPSA left arm spinner Harshit was the most successful bowler as he took five wickets for 28 runs.
