CHANDIGARH, APRIL 9:In a high-scoring semi-final match, Mohali Cricket Academy snatched an exciting five-wicket victory of the last ball against Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy in the Chandigarh Under-13 Inter-Academy 30 Overs Cricket Tournament being organised by DPAC Academy at the St Stephen’s School ground in Sector 45 here today.
Chasing a victory target of 191 runs, Tejas (34) and Romy (28) gave a solid start to Mohali Cricket Association as this opening pair were associated in a 71-run stand in eight overs. Tejas’ knock contained half a dozen boundaries while Romy slammed three fours and one huge six. Sarthak then held the forth with an unbeaten 63. He reached the fence six times. In the last over, Mohali Cricket Academy hit the winning run of the last ball of the 30th over. MCA scored 192 for 5.
DPAC Academy’s left hand spinner Karaninder Singh was the most successful bowler as he claimed three wickets for 26 runs. Medium pacer Parnav Vashisht captured two wickets for 25 runs.
Earlier, Mohali Cricket Academy won the toss and invited DPAC Academy to bat first. They put on an impressive total of 190 for 3 in allotted 30 overs. Aggarwal brothers — Daksh and Karan— gave their team a flying start as they were associated in a 110-run opening wicket stand in 16 overs. Daksh piled up 46 runs with the help of six boundaries. Karan scored a polished 52 which was studded with eight fours.
Manjot played a hurricane knock of 44. He hit three fours and two sixes. Guntash and Parnav Vashisht contributed 21 and 10 runs, respectively. Gaurav got two wickets for 21 runs.
Mohali Cricket Academy will now face Sector 16 Cricket Stadium in the final slated for April 11 at 12.30 a.m.
DPAC Academy Director Dronacharya said that the victorious St Stephen’s Soccer Academy team would be honoured with cash award at the closing function. Assistant coach of Indian team which competed in the World Cup for Under-19, Munish Bali will also be felicitated on the occasion.
