By Jagpreet Sandhu,Panchkula, Febuary 12 : 31 couples tied the knot at a mass marriage ceremony organized by the Maharaja Agarsen Welfare Trust at the Durga Mandir, Sector 7, Panchkula on Sunday. This was the fifth mass marriage ceremony organized by the Trust.
R P Gupta, IAS, Divisional commissioner, Ambala, the chief guest on the occasion, blessed the couples. Sunil Gupta, President, Aggarwal Sabha, Panchkula, gave away the much needed domestic items like kitchenware, sleeping bed, a big trunk, sewing machine, bicycle, watch, quilt, mattresses, clothes for the boys and girls, etc.
Parents and relatives of the couples were quite happy with the arrangements and thanked the organizers of the ceremony.
Brijmohan Gupta of the Gayatri Parivar conducted the marriage ceremony with vedic mantras and conducted the ‘phera’ ceremony. Eighth phera was conducted in the name of end to female foeticide.
President of the Maharaja Agarsen Welfare Trust Balkrishan Bansal, Jagmohan Gag, Ramvilas Aggarwal, Sajanaj Jindal, Tarsem Garg, Om Parkash Garg, Yograj Bansal, Naresh Aggarwal, Darshan Garg, Deepak Bansal, Lajpatrai Bansal, Som Nath Diwan, Sanjeev Kapoor, Kishori Lal Bansal, Madal Lal Bansal, Materam Goel, Sanjay Roongta, Arun Sindhal, Sat Parkash Aggarwal, Sunit Goel, Sanjay Mittal, Meghraj Garg, Ajay Narayan Goel, Prem Chand Garg were the prominent members of the Aggarwal Sabha who were present on the occasion and blessed the couples and also gave away gifts too the newly wed.
Besides residents of the area also attended the ceremony and blessed the couples with gifts. Baratis and couples were served breakfast and lunch. The participants danced to the tune of band and great fun on the occasion.
