4 Mar :US-based Ronnie Saini conducted a workshop for the members of British Library as to how to stand out from the crowd in this a competitive job market.
Ronnie advised that job seekers must customise their resumes to match their expertise with the exact job requirements of the organisation. The culture of ‘backing up the resume’ with a cover letter needs to be adopted in the Indian market, as it is widely practised abroad.
Your resume is your brand ambassador and it must highlight how your capabilities and experience can help an organisation to succeed.
He warned against recruiters and many job portals which display numerous fake job postings that may not fetch any results. He advised that the best option is to apply directly to the companies by looking for job openings on their websites.
There are definitely strong do’s and don’t of the whole process like, never send your resume as a ‘cc’ to many employers and don’t send out an email without a ‘subject line’.
Companies like Google receive resume every 25 seconds and only the suitably framed CV has the possibility of being looked at.
