Chandigarh April 17:Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia Minister for Information and Public Relations, Water Supply and Sanitation, Science Technology and Environment Punjab questioned the mysterious silence maintained by Bibi Rajinder Kaur Bhattal president PPCC and Capt. Amarinder Singh former Chief Minister on inflation issue. He said that the Punjab Congress silence has casted serious doubts over party’s so called poor friendly claims. He sought immediate clarification from the duo on the wrong policies of UPA Govt. that has, resulted in fast rising prices of essential commodities.
The Minister was interacting with the media men after participating in Jain Bhagwati Diksha Samaroh organized to mark Bhagwan Mahavir Jayanti Samaroh by SS Jain here, today. Mr. Majithia said that failure of the UPA govt. to check steel prices has proved to be a death knell for the small and medium industry of Punjab who is being forced to skip the orders.
The Minister said that the public was crying from the rising prices and would give a befitting defeat to Congress and allies in the coming elections. Mr. Majithia said that congress leaders had also been making exaggerated assertions about the loan waiver scheme of UPA Govt. for farmers that had proved a complete flop show, as only a negligible number of farmers in Punjab were falling under the fixed parameters of the scheme. Mr. Majithia, on a question about he allegations by congress leaders on SAD government of reversing development process said that these leaders should remember about what they did during their tenure, when they had completely ruined the economy of the state with wrong policies. He said that both senior leaders had been blaming each other for rampant corruption and ruining the development process of state. He said that they should first put their own house in order and speak for the people. Mr. Majithia said that SAD- BJP government had implemented a comprehensive development program of more than Rs 10000 crore in the state. The Minister said that the ambitious World Bank Assisted, Punjab Renewal Water Supply and Sanitation Project of Rs. 1280.30 crore to provide potable drinking water in all water scarcity hit villages in Punjab has been launched, under which water supply will be provided to 3662 villages i.e. 2124 not covered, 920 partially covered and 1618 villages where service level has reduced from prescribed norms. He said that 1000 ponds in the villages were also being renovated under this program . The Engineers of the department would provide technical assistance and Superintending Engineers would also periodically monitor the quality of water being supplied in the villages.
Mr. Majithia who is newly appointed Pattern of Youth Akali Dal said all our efforts would be made to mobilize youth for the development process of the state and youth leaders would be assigned important responsibilities in organization.Mr. Majithia said that that the youth would also be mobilized to launch an effective drive to eradicate social evils including drugs and intoxicants, female feticide, dowry etc. from the society. He said that youth Akali Dal leaders would keep a constant monitoring of the development projects launched by SAD- BJP government in the state to ensure the fast utilization of funds.
Addressing the Diksha samaroha the Minister said that Jain Saints and Munis had preached tolerance, service to the suffering humanity and non-violence in the society. Congratulating the Jain Samaj for its continuous contribution in strengthening the peace and communal brotherhood among different sections of society . He said that Jain Samaj had been propagating the ancient philosophy of Saints and Gurus by adopting practically in their day to day life. Extending his respect to the three new Vairagans, Puja Jain, Divya Jain and Rimpi Jain for receiving "Diksha" (Sanyas from Social Life"), Mr. Majithia said that these newly turned Sadhwis had opted to follow the spiritual life and to preach the philosophy of Jain Samaj propounded by Bhagwan Maharvir and other Jain Saints. He announced a grant of Rs 11 lakh for the completion of a Hall being constructed by S S Jain Sabha Sunder Nagar.
Addressing the function, Mr. Sat Pal Gosian Deputy Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha said that the Jain Samaj had always adopted the principles of non- violence and service to the suffering humanity preached by the great saints. He announced a grant of Rs 2 lakh for the propagation of Jain philosophy by the three newly joined Vairagans in the function.
Mr. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Mr. Harish Rai Bedi MLA and Mr. Hira Lal Jain Chief Advisor S S Jain maha Sabha were also addressed the function.
