Principal Gurbachan Singh, President, Nationalist Congress Party, Chandigarh, who was the Chief Guest on the Occasion called upon the students to spread the message of non violence of Mahatma Gandhi which is what the nation needs today.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rachit Kaushal, President, said that in the existing times the youth needs to follow the non violence theory of Mahatma Gandhi. He said the NSC shall involve more and more students not only of Panjab University, but also of various colleges of the city and stress upon the students to follow the path shown by Gandhi ji.
Mr. Deepak Thakur, Vice President, NSC, pledged that he would reach out to the students to spread the message of Gandhi ji. He further said that this is the need of the hour. There was a consensus in the meeting that many social problems can be solved through the path shown by the great father of the nation.
The prominent students who spoke on the occasion were Shaveta Dhamija and Varun Sharma, General Secretaries, NSC. They opined that we have the democratic setup were the people have been given right to elect their representatives. Among the various expectations, the public have always wanted their representative to give utmost importance to principles of peace, justice and equality, i.e., the Gandhian Principles. To promote the same principles in student politics, we have come together as an association and therefore have formed the NSC.
Joint Secretaries, Vikramjeet Singh Sahota, Ravi Inder Singh and Shivendra Swaroop were of the view that the ideology of serving the interests of the students in every possible aspect is one of the aims of forming the NSC. They were of the opinion that it is sad that inspite of our nation having 60% of youth population, majority of them were going astray. Everyone especially youth must imbibe Gandhi Ji’s ideals of ahimsa to make our nation a heaven to live in.
