CHANDIGARH SEPTEMBER 13: Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today asked the Punjab Mandi Board to chalk out a plan for ensuring the allotment of shops to all the Licensee Aarhtiyas in the newly constructed Mandies in the state especially in Ghaga, Bhikhi, Khemkaran, Harike, Kalanour, Mallawala, Khadoor Sahib,Khalra, Rampuraphool, Ladhoke, Badhni Kalan and Mamdot Mandis.
Mr. Badal was presiding over a meeting with the representatives of Federation of Aarhti Association, Punjab and the officers of Food & Civil Supplies Department and Punjab Mandi Board.
Conceeding the demand of the association to give them due representation in Punjab Mandi Board, Mr. Badal directed the Mandi Board to include one additional repetitive of the association in the Board of Directors. He also asked the Board to accept J and I-Forms being submitted by the Aarhtias as per the past practice.
Referring to other demands put forth by the Federation, Mr. Badal assured them that their all demands would be considered sympathetically.On this occasion Mr. Ravinder Singh Cheema, President of the Association thanked the Chief Minister on behalf of the Aarhtiyas for accepting their demands on priority. He said that SAD-BJP government had scripted a new chapter in the history of Punjab by issuing long-term licenses to the Arhtiyas and creating a harmonious environment to promote trade and agriculture in the state.
Prominent amongst others who were present in the meeting included Food & Civil Supplies Minister Mr. Adesh Partap Singh Kairon, Chairman Punjab Mandi Board Mr. Ajmer Singh Lakhowal, Chief Secretary RI Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister DS Guru, Principal Secretary Food & Civil Supplies Mr. RPS Pawar, and Secretary Mandi Board Deepinder Singh, besides over fifty representatives of various District Aarhti Units.
