Chandigarh, February 26, 2012: On the third concluding day of the rose festival 2012, Smt Raj Bala Malik Mayor of Chandigarh in the presence of the participants and senior officers of the Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation gave away the prizes to the prize winners of the various competitions held during three days, in an impressive Prize distribution function largely attended by the people from all walks of life.
In Antakshri competition, Varsha and Smriti, Govt college for girls, Sector 11(Red Rose team) won the first position Rs 5000 followed by Pooja and Sagrika, Post graduate Govt. college for girls, sector 11 (white Rose team) winning second prize of Rs 4000 and third prize money of Rs 3000 by Anita and Amrinder Kaur, Dev Samaj College, Sector 36(Pink Rose team) and fourth prize of Rs 2000 was won by Akshita and Neha, Govt. college for Arts, sector 10(yellow Rose team). Sh. Anil Kumar, IAS, Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration was the Chief Guest at this occasion.
The ‘On the spot painting competition’ that was organized for different age groups to explore the talent in the children. Every participant was gifted with pack of crayon colour by the organizers. The Competition was conducted for different age group i.e. five year to eight years, above eight to 11 years, above 11 to 14 years and above 14 to 17 years. About 500 children participated enthusiastically. Apart from this, 10 students from Govt. College of Arts, Sector 10, Chandigarh also took part and made exhibition painting to inspire the participating children. Sh. Satya Gopal, IAS, Chairman, Chandigarh Housing Board, UT, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest at this occasion.

Today, the Leisure Valley was the hub of entertainment and activities for the visitors. CITCO DA VEHRA and the other food stalls were also hit with the visitors. There were other stalls attracting people which had products ranging from artificial flowers to environment friendly herbs and plants available in great variety with reasonable rates options. The colourfully decorated trees with fabric flowers were adding colour to the décor of the specially built up eatable and non eatable stall. Three stalls were adjudged the best amongst the stalls which are having a range of artificial flowers, colourful plant and flowers.
