CHANDIGARH, JUNE 19:Brace each by Gursimran Brar and Sidharth Sandhu enabled Kings VIII outplay Apu-45 by 5-1 in the KV-48 Eight-A-Side Open Football Tournament which commenced at the Banyan Tree School ground here today.
Dominating the match, Kings VIII had an easy round. Gursimran and Sidharth booted home two goals each. Ankur Kumar contributed one goal for the winners. The solitary goal for Apu-45 was scored by Arpit.
In another match, Panjab University Football Club got the better of Gurmeet VIII by 3-2. In a well-contested match, PU FC scored through Sandeep, Tony and Malik. Gurmeet and Prem reduced the margin for Gurmeet VIII.
In yet another fixture, Monty-48 edged KV-48 ‘B’ Team by 3-2.Monty, Vinay and Rishi scored one goal each for Monty-48. Robin and Aneesh netted for KV-48 ‘B’ Team.
According to organiser Chetan Preet Singh, as many as 16 teams are taking part in the Eight-A-Side knockout tournament. He said that efforts were to provide more opportunities to the players to get exposure to hon their skills. He along with Harsimran Preet Singh and Vaibhav Bhasin have joined hands to launch this venure.
