Chandigarh: Member of Parliament, Chandigarh Ms. Kirron Kher today called on Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan and apprised him of the problem faced by beneficiaries of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Scheme for foodgrains. She told him that beneficiaries are not getting the subsidy amount in the form of cash into aadhar seeded bank accounts in time and because of that they are not able to purchase ration. She also told him that after the scheme is being introduced many residents are not getting DBT and residents above poverty line are deprived of the benefit as the fresh survey has not been conducted. She said that there is a need to conduct fresh survey so that more people get benefit from this scheme.
Smt. Kher said that she has been assured by Mr. Paswan that from next month beneficiaries will get the subsidy amount in their banks early. She said that if the new system of DBT is improved and there are no complaints from the beneficiaries than only this system will continue otherwise it will be reviewed as per the feedback from beneficiaries. It may be mentioned that beneficiaries are demanding that they should be given ration at Fair Price Shops like before as the money transferred into their accounts is being spent on other things instead of Ration. This scheme is the most prestigious reforms scheme for PDS implemented by the Govt. of India to make transparency. Smt. Kher had earlier also desired to add more beneficiaries under the DBT scheme so that every needy individual may get benefit of the scheme launched by the Govt. of India.
