CHANDIGARH, SEPT 18 :Top seed Kevin Wong and second seed Tushar Khurana along with Akhil and Aryan Singh took their appointed places in the boys under-10 semi-finals of the 20th Yonex Chandigarh State Badminton Championship being organised by Chandigarh Badminton Club under the patronage of the Chandigarh Badminton Association at the Sector 42 Badminton Hall here today.Playing an inspiring game, Kevin defeated Prabhat 21-5, 21-5 in the boys quarter-final match. He will now face Akhil in semi-final. Akhil accounted for Anshul 21-11, 21-13 in quarter-final fixture. Aryan Singh will challenge second seed Tushar Khurana in the second semi-final match. Tushar defeated Aman Rawat 21-14, 21-9 and Aryan ousted Dasmesh Chadha 21-15, 21-15.
Wife for former Punjab Minister Partap Singh Bajwa inaugurated the tournament. She was introduced to the players and officials. Among those present on the occasion were Chandigarh Badminton Association president MC Sethi, CBA founder member DK Mukerjee, secretary TPS Puri and CB Club president Dr R S Bedi.
Speaking on the occasion, MC Sethi said it was for the first time that the responsibilty of hosting the state championship was given to Chandigarh Badminton Club, affiliated to the Chandigarh Badminton Association.
