Barinder Saluja, Chandigarh ,June, 25 : The Book ‘Karma Ka Pujari’ is Biography of Late Dr GC Mishra, Ex Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering And Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The book is written by his son, Mayank Mishra, Senior Correspondent, Amar Ujala. Union Cabinet Minister for Parliamentary affairs and water resources Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal today released the book at a function organized at PG Government College, Sector-11. Among Those present on the occasion were Justice Suryakant , Judge, Panjab and Haryana High Court, Prof. KN Pathak, Former VC, PU, Dr Madhu Chitkara, Pro Chancellor, Chitkara University and Dr Shyam Sunder, Principal, Govt College, Sector-11.
The book has 24 chapters. The book starts with the birth of Dr. Mishra. He was born at a very small village in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. His Father Pandit Surya Dev Mishra was a teacher and a writer. It was challenging for a boy who was born in a small village to took admission in IIT, Kanpur. But, Dr. Mishra accepted this challenge and completed his education from IIT, Kanpur. The book mentions about the frontier batch of IIT.
Before Joining PU, he had served as a lecturer at BITS, Pilani. He had taught at PU for 24 years before retiring in July, 2005. The book mentions about the hard work done by Dr Mishra throughout his life. One chapter of the book is devoted to his simplicity. He had always lead a simple life. He was identified by his bicycle in the campus. His room in the department also speaks volumes about his simplicity. The book has a chapter on his post retirement life.
About the author
Mayank Mishra is a senior Journalist. He is in the journalism for last 10 years. He had the habit of writing in newspapers when he was in 10 th class. Before joining Amar Ujala, he had done free lancing for four years. After six months of his father’s death in Feb, 2009, he decided to write a book on his life. When he completed 50 percent of his book in April, He suddenly thought of getting the book released on Father’s day. It was then challenging for him to complete the rest of 50 percent book in just one month. It was just a small tribute to a father by the son. Mayank is from a family of writers. His Grand father Pandit Surya Dev Mishra Was a famous writer.
