Chandigarh, May 4; Today, Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Punjab & Haryana High Court inaugurated a two day ‘Peace Trainer’s Training Programme’, in which teachers in charge of Peace Clubs from over 50 prominent Schools of the tricity Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali are participating. The programme was jointly organized by Yuvsatta and Peace Club of Dev Samaj College of Education, Chandigarh at College campus.
Inaugurating the initiative Justice Surya Kant said that Gandhi dedicated his life to the wider purpose of discovering truth, or Satya. He tried to achieve this by learning from his own mistakes and conducting experiments on himself and thus called his autobiography The Story of My Experiments with Truth. Quoting Gandhi he also advised teachers to become role models inculcating values of inner peace, social peace and leading towards global peace.
Main highlight of the day was a ‘Gandhi Katha’ (Life story of Mahatma Gandhi) narrated by Dr. OP Joshi from Rajasthan University, Jaipur, through self-made 42 feet long canvas based on autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi.
Giving information about the initiative Pramod Sharma, Coordinator of Yuvsatta shared that the training is designed to train teachers towards the positive aspect of nonviolence through constructive activities, discussions, interactions and effective dialogue.
Prominent amongst those who interacted with teachers today includes Dr. Jyoti Khanna, Principal of the College, Pramod Sharma, Coordinator, Yuvsatta, Prof. Anil Sarwal, former Secretary General of National Assembly of Bahai’s, Sr. Journalist Vandana Shukla and peace educator Dr. Hushang Garmroud.
