CHANDIGARH, June 29, 2008:Mr. Justice Rakesh Garg of the Punjab and Haryana High Court has emphasized the need to encourage social intervention at various levels to counter the various problems borne out of high levels of stress especially caused by the changing life styles.
Mr. Justice Garg was addressing gathering at the Chandigarh Press Club, which in association with the Gianwati-O.P. Jain Memorial Trust, Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, organized a one day free Cardiology check-up camp on June 29, 2008 (Sunday).
Expressing concern over the increase in cardiac problems, Mr. Justice Garg said that the un-affordable costs of treatment had a major contribution in keeping people away from timely diagnosis of the ailment. While he appreciated the efforts by the Chandigarh Press Club and the Gianwati-O.P.Jain Memorial Trust in organizing the camp, Mr. Justice Garg appealed to the people to adopt simpler life styles.
Camp Manager, Mr. Preet, informed that his team of comprised of three doctors who provided free consultation, ECG, Echocardiography, and blood pressure check-ups. About 150 patients availed the facilities. 120 people availed ECG facility where as 80 persons were referred for Echocardiography scans. He also agreed to hold such camps in future too.
Mr. Sarabjit Pandher, President of the Press Club, Mr. Naveen S. Garewal, Secretary-General and Mr. Bhupender Jain, President, Gianwati O.P.Jain Memorial Trust were present during the occasion.
