Chandigarh Territorial Janata Dal (United) to-day demanded a high level probe by an independent expert committee into the scandalous purchases of the Antiques and Artifacts of the ancient times by the Chandigarh Art Gallery and Museum on Dec 13, 2011.
Mr. Surinder Bhardwaj, President of the Chandigarh Territorial Janata Dal (United) alleged that these articles of the so called historic, cultural and antique values have been purchased without verifying the genuinely and the historic values of the articles, this unplanned purchase of these artifacts has been created just to exhausted the purchase budget of the Museum in which of the lacs of supers have been spent which was not required in the public interested or to attract tourism, this giving a huge lose to the Govt. exchequer.
Mr. Bhardwaj further said that shockingly there was no experts in the purchase committee who could establish the exact value of the Antiques and Artifacts purchased and the members of the purchased committee formed by the Chandigarh administration has benefited only few selected people which shows a hand in glove with the purchase officials of the Art Acquisition Committee and their henchmen, shows a case of nepotism and bungling.
Mr. Bhardwaj demanded an immediate enquiry by an independent expert committee and severe action against the guilty of officials who could be involved in the high level corruption of antiques previously.
