Chandigarh: Sh. Satya Pal Jain, Ex BJP MP and the Chairman, Social Welfare Committee of the Chandigarh Administration yesterday met Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Administrator UT Chandigarh and assured him that the Social Welfare Committee shall fully involve itself in the rehabilitation of the children orphaned because of Covid-19 in Chandigarh.
Sh. Jain also complemented the Administrator for quick response to the directions of the Government of India for rehabilitation of such type of children in Chandigarh.
In a statement, Mr. Jain said that a meeting of the Social Welfare Committee of the Chandigarh Administration shall be held next week to discuss and chalk out the further strategy for that. He said that the Government of India has already assured all possible help in this matter even from the PM Cares Fund.
Sh. Jain said that as per the information available, there are about 40-50 such children in Chandigarh, who lost their parents during Covid-19 and who need immediate rehabilitation and proper long term planning for their growth in future. He said that these children are our own innocent children, whose upbringing and care is the responsibility of the society and hoped that people in Chandigarh will come forward for helping them in all possible ways.
