Y.S. RANA , CHANDIGARH—The India Travel Mart (ITM) has organized 3-day travel and tourism exhibition at Himachal Bhavan, Chandigarh to take “Incredible India,” the marketing slogan globally.
While talking to Ajay Gupta, managing director, ITM said that the exhibition was organized in collaboration with the Chandigarh Tourism and CITCO with special emphasis on promoting wildlife, pilgrimage, adventure and medical tourism. “Exhibition brings the unique experience of specially prepared holiday packages and good bargains from leading Hotels, Resorts, Travel agents, Tour Operators from India and Abroad,” says Mr Gupta.
It has attracted officials of tourism departments all over the country including Himachal Pradesh.. Besides, country’s top domestic and international travel operators and hotels have participated in the exhibition under one roof to cater to the needs of the traveler who are diversifying.
The official of Himachal Tourism Department stated that whole of the state was a tourist spot. The state government has been developing new lesser known tourist spots to the outside world to make tourism as a leading industry in the state. Tourism benefits the state in three ways—employment generation; source of income and infrastructural development, he adds.
He further stated that now tourism catered to a number of market types such as cultural tourism market attracted many foreign tourists, targeted business travel market to adventure and eco-tourism as well as pilgrimage. “Himachal requires to be marketed tourism smartly, especially when Uttranchal is competing with us,” he said.
Providing a platform to allow a direct interaction between customers, travel industry and hotels across the country has reported incredible results for travel agencies and hotel industry, says Shilpa Uberoi, marketing manager, ITM. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari to Kutch to Arunachal Pradesh and exotic international destinations would be made accessible to everyone due to array of tailor made packages, she said.

There was a Travel Theme based Painting Competition and Travel Quiz for children of all ages to showcase their talent on the different stalls at the exhibition for all three days.
