A Cultural personality not only represents his/her respective race, region and nation but also considered as the ambassador of a particular art form. Ishmeet was the cultural representative of Generation Next of South Asia, ambassador of the music and son of India. Through the process of a reality show of Star television of India, which is a competition as well, the young boy became the musical prince for South Asian music lovers. He met with a awful end, was given a state funeral here on Thursday evening with Lacs turned out people from all walks of life from all over the world and braving heavy rains turning up to. His relatives, family members, admirers and people from different walks of life were present. If there is any additional cause of death, it will be declared later.
Ishmeet Singh’s death has failed to convince his family. His uncle Mr. GPS Chadha (an eminent architect) shared that there was an attempt to kill the 19-year-old singer just two weeks before he tragically drowned in a hotel swimming pool.
Mr. Chadha shared that Ishmeet told me that he was travelling in his car from Mumbai to Pune on July 13 when another car suddenly came from behind and hit the side on which he was sitting. There was a choreographer travelling with Ishmeet as well, but I don’t remember his name. Ishmeet’s car was badly damaged and he had a narrow escape on that occasion.
However, hours before he was scheduled to get a state funeral, Ishmeet’s other uncle Dr. Chaman Kamal Singh Sodhi, an eminent faculty with Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana, India
said injury marks on the forehead and chest and swollen face of Ishmeet had aroused suspicion that he may have been murdered.
Dr. Sodhi added that his death is not an accident alone. It could be part of a conspiracy. We want the matter must be investigated thoroughly. The Governments of India and Maldives and the Punjab Government should be involved in this investigation.
Photographs of the Ishmeet ‘s body clearly showed a black mark on his forehead.
Maldives’ national newspaper Haveeru quoted officials from the Chaaya Dhonveli Beach Resort as saying that Ishmeet had drowned between 5.15 p.m. and 5.20 p.m. Tuesday in the hotel’s swimming pool.
Deaths are painful; any unexpected and untimely death is more throbbing and of course accidental death of a young star, it makes the whole soul traumatized. With the departure of Ishmeet, the fans lost their hero and the music lost a prince, a promising king of musical world. But mother lost a son and sister misses a brother on coming Raksha Bandhan (a popular and important festival of India when sister knot the wrist of brother) in the month of August only.
There is nothing to say for the painful happening, let drop tears for the son, pray for the departed soul and God may give us strength to bear an unrecoverable wound at soul and mind, an unbearable pain for all time. Ishmeet, you will always be alive in the deep of the Soul of all music lovers.
Ishmeet’s family – father Gurpinder Singh, mother Amritpal Kaur, sister and all near and dears along with fans – were inconsolable even as scores of mourners kept pouring in. They sat beside his body even as preparations for the last rites were being made amidst religious hymns and chants of Satnam Wahe Guru.
Last Prayer (Antim Ardas) for the departed soul will be preformed on Sunday, 3rd August, 2008 at the Shri Gurdawara Shaib, Model Town, Extension, Ludhiana, India from 12 Noon to 3 PM.
