Chandigarh, June 21: Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has sought resignation from Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and conducting of Lok Sabha elections for failing to curb inflation. INLD has also reiterated its demand of resignation by chief minister Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda for complete law & order failure in the state.
While addressing the media persons here today, senior INLD leader and former Finance Minister Prof Sampat Singh said that this week inflation has broken record of last 13 years and Prime Minister and Finance Minister were finding it difficult in controlling the rising prices. He said that spiraling prices have broken the back bone of farmers, middle class and poor strata of society. Misdirected policies of government are responsible for the price rise, he said.
Former Finance Minster said that UPA government was taking decision to benefit some big business houses of the country and they have no concern for the commonmen. He said that policies of Congress government has always been anti-poor, anti-peasant and anti-working class and adopted the policies favouring inflation & black marketing. He said that the government’s sahllow promises to curb the inflation have been exposed now and Congress has been left with no excuse. The prices of all the necessary items & groceries have sky rocketed and has become out of reach for a common man and living has become impossible for a common man, he added.
Referring to ban imposed on export of rice, Mr Sampat Singh said that the government has also adopted the unfair practices & policies for the farmers earlier also as when the farmer was selling the basmati produce, the ban on export was imposed but after three weeks when the same basmati produce reached the big exporter houses, the ban on export was lifted. This whole exercise benefited the big exporters, while the farmers suffered huge losses.
INLD leader said that law & order has totally failed in the state the recent incidents have proved that there is total ‘Jungle Raj’ in the state. He said that Mr Hooda has dual responsibility for maintaining law & order of the state as he is state’s home minister apart being CM. He said that the people of the state have lost complete faith in the state law enforcement machinery.
Mr Sampat Singh said that the criminals & corrupt police officers were being protected by the Congress government. He said that the situation is worsening day by day and the situation has become so bad that the people fear approaching the police.
