Former finance minister said that earlier this additional burden of Rs 558 crore was proposed from March 31, 2008, but as it is being implemented from August 1, another 10.5% interest would also be charged from the people. He said that this hike was not introduced to dupe the people as three by-elections were due and people were already up in arms against the government for the lack of electricity. He said that the only some time back the government has also a proposal of additional SFA procurement amounting to Rs 300 crore, which may get approval from Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission any time. Another electricity hike is also coming as government has sent another proposal to HERC for charging Rs 522 crore from the users.
Prof Sampat Singh said that another public notice has been published in various newspapers and August 18 has been fixed for public hearing. He disclosed that he himself would appear on behalf of the INLD in the public hearing. He said that total Rs 3280 crore burden has been put on people in the last one & half years only.
