Chandigarh, March 10:- 26th Annual Prize Giving Function of Government College, Sector 46 was organized in its Auditorium today. Adviser to the UT Administrator, Mr. Pradip Mehra, was the chief guest on the occasion.Adviser on the occasion said that the Administration is planning for upgrading the infrastructure of colleges in UT and making them ready for future needs. The up-gradation would be done both in terms of maintenance and changing needs, Mr.Mehra added.Addressing the gathering on the occasion he said,education is of paramount importance and transforms the
personality of a person. It opens the window of mind and support logical and rational thinking by which an individual can converse and discuss issues, he further added.Adviser also said that investment in education is intangible but the sincere efforts by teachers in imparting quality knowledge can make it tangible. Teachers play a pivotal role for the students thus they should have an urge to know more, learn more and keep updating themselves so as to make impart knowledge which could be used in the contemporary world, he said. “Imbibing new thoughts and passing them in a disciplined manner should be the priority of teachers” averred Mr. Mehra.
Adviser further added that with education taking part in extra-curricular activities like sports, drama, seminars,
elocutions and group discussions is also very important as it helps in the holistic personality development of an individual.Mr. Mehra gave away the Role of Honour, College Colour and other awards to the meritorious students of the college.Director Higher Education, Mrs. Raji P. Shrivastava was the Guest of Honour at the function.Principal, Government College, Sector 46, Mr. K. Saluja,faculty members and parents were present on the occasion.
