CHANDIGARH, MARCH 4:A two-match Indo-Pak Tennis Series will be organised in October/November this year. Stating this here today, All India Tennis Association executive vice-president-cum-secretary general Anil Khanna disclosed that two ties would be played in New Delhi and Chandigarh. The dates will be announced after the AITA consult their counterparts Pakistan Tennis Federation.
Mr Khanna, who is also president of the Asian Tennis Federation, was here to watch singles semi-finals and doubles final of the $ 10,000 India F5 Futures ITF Men’s Circuit at the CLTA Stadium in Sector 10 here. he also held discussions with Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association chairman Rajan Kashyap who willingly accepted the offer to play host to one tie.
Mr Khanna said that format for the two-match series would be slightly modified to suit players from both countries. Two singles and one doubles matches would be played at one venue. A team will consist of four to five players. As Pakistan Tennis Federation may also be keen to host one tie in Lahore, AITA and PTF would hold discussions on staging of the Indo-Pak tennis series.
Mr Khanna agreed to the suggestion of Mr Rajan Kashyap that veteran teams from both countries should also play Indo-Pak series when the ties are organised in October.
