CHANDIGARH, JULY 16:A 15-member Indian contingent, including officials, will take part in the VIFA Asia Tournament of Table Soccer to be conducted in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) from July 18 to 21, according to Table Soccer Federation of India president Balwinder Singh Johal. Amardeep Singh will lead the team while, Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal will be his deputy.
Harmohinder Singh Lucky, former Deputy Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, will be the leader of the delegation. Lucky was confident that the Indian team would bring laurels to the country by winning medals.
Market Committee chairman Davinder Singh Babla gave a warm send off to the Indian team and expressed hope that they would gain international exposure by participating in Malaysia. He wished the team best of luck. Babla advised the players to work hard and bring laurels to the city and the nation.
Players from Australia, Bahrain, Oceania, China, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Israel, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Taiwan, Thailand and United Arab Emirates are taking part in the Asian championship.
Meanwhile, during the meet, Mr Joe Ueno, ITSF Executive Committee Member and President of the Asia-Oceania Table Soccer Confederation will hold a meeting with federation delegates from Asia and Oceania. There are currently 14 Asian member federations within ITSF. Indonesia, Philippines, New Zealand, Oman (Sultanate of), Singapore are keen to become ITSF members.
Harmohinder Singh Lucky said that the meeting’s agenda included discussion about the development of table soccer in the Asia-Oceania continental zone and how current members can help new comers join ITSF.
