Chandigrh, January 25: Shri Kulbir Singh, Inspector General, North West Sector, CRPF,
Chandigarh has been awarded “President’s Police Medal For Distinguished Service”
on the occasion of Republic Day, 2013 in recognition of his highly successful,
unblemished, commendable and outstanding service rendered to the nation. In 36 years
career, he served for long spells in insurgency infested areas of Nagaland, Manipur,
Mizoram and Assam. He served as SP(Ops) in Punjab Police on deputation. He served
for approximate 08 years in militancy prone areas of J&K. Shri Kulbir Singh was
instrumental in killing 04 militants and capture of 02 AK-47 Rifles in an encounter at
Anantnag(Kashmir) on 30/03/1990. As SP(Ops), Punjab Police, he liquidated hardcore
militants and recovered huge quantity arms and ammunitions. He commanded 104 RAF
(Rapid Action Force) Bn at Aligarh and raised 159 Bn at Sindri.
Earlier Sh. Kulbir Singh, IGP has been decorated with ‘Police Medal for
Meritorious Service’ by the President and also Police Special (Duty) Medal for
Nagaland, Assam, Punjab, Manipur, J&K and DG’s Commendations Disc and letters
during 1997 & 2010 and letters in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
