Chandigarh, Septembet 23rd : The Home Secretary inspected the College of Architecture along with the officers of Engineering, Architecture and Technical Education Department. He interacted with the students and enquired about the problems faced by them. The students informed that the roof of the Design cube was leaking and it should be repaired. The Home Secretary inspected the Design cube and ordered the Chief Engineer to immediately get the roof repaired and also do the interiors of the Design Cube so that the students can work during the night also as per convenience.
The students also requested the Home Secretary to provide Wi-Fi facility in the college campus and hostels. The Home Secretary assured that Wi Fi facility would be provided to the college campus as well as in the hostels within a fortnight.
The students also informed him that they were facing problems whenever there was electricity break downs. The Home Secretary asked the Chief Engineer to prepare estimates for Generator sets in the college as well as hostels. It was also informed by the students that during the summer season, the studios get heated and there is no provision for cooling. The Home Secretary asked the Chief Engineer to prepare the estimates for air cooling in the design studio.
The students informed the Home Secretary that the canteen of the Architecture College needs up gradation to which the Home Secretary asked the students to prepare the architecture concept for the interior design of the canteen and the same would be implemented by the Engineering Department. The Home Secretary asked the Chief Engineer to get the leakages at different places in the building repaired.
The students also asked that the latest software should be provided in the college computer lab. and also hardware of need to be upgraded. The Principal College of Architecture was asked to do the needful. The Home Secretary asked the Chief Engineer that he would again visit the college after two months to take review all decisions taken today.
The Home Secretary also inspected the College of Arts along with concerned officers. He was shocked to find that many of the studios were flooded with water due to heavy rains and leakages. He directed the Chief Engineer to immediately repair the leakages in the studios and also lay kota stone flooring in all the studios as these floors were completely damaged due to over usage by the students. He also asked the Chief Engineer to provide extra electricity points in the studios.
The Principal informed that many posts of lecturers were lying vacant to which the Home Secretary asked the Director Technical Education to immediately advertise the posts for recruitment on contract basis.
