CHANDIGARH, AUG 2 :An unbeaten 61-run partnership between all-rounder Sumit Hooda (41, 2 for 13)) and Itesh Kumar (18) steered Cricket Federation of India into the final of the first Independence Cup Under-15 Cricket Tournament being played at the Banyan Tree School ground in Sector 48 B here today.
In their last league match, CFI defeated Cricket Federation of India by six wickets.It was CFI’s third successive win and finished their league programme with an-all win record in the three-team double league.
In the final, they will meet Cricket Federation of Punjab tomorrow at 9 a.m.
Punjab qualified for final after beating Cricket Federation of Chandigarh by 59 runs for the second victory.
Batting first, Punjab were all out for 102 in 21 overs. Ravinder Singh topscored with an unbeaten 24 while Siddharath contributed 14 runs. Sumit Hooda (2 for 13), Gaurav Sharma (3 for 14), Ashish Rai (2 for 23) and Mohit Garg (2 for 5) restricted Punjab total to 102.
Cricket Federation of India achieved their target in 19.3 overs by scoring 104 for 4. A 41-ball undefeated 41 helped CFI race to victory. His brilliant innings contained four fours. He was associated in an unbeaten 61-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Itesh Kumar (not out 18). Hooda was declared man of the match.
In another match, Punjab outclassed Chandigarh by 59 runs. Required to score 106, Chandigarh were skittled out for 46 in 16.2 overs. Shubham Pathak (3 for 7) and Sunny Kanwal (3 for 9) wrecked Chandigarh innings.
Earlier, Punjab posted 105 for 8 in their allotted 25 overs. All-rounder Shubham Pathak (32, 3 for 7) and Sharanjit Singh (20) were their principal scorers. Ravinder Singh made 18. Mohd Shagir (3 for 15) and Sahil Sharma (3 for 12) were the most successful bowlers for Chandigarh. Shubham Pathak was adjudged the man of the match.
