CHANDIGARH, OCT 11 ;Hosts and defending champions New Public School served a stern warning as they registered an easy 67-13 victory over Satluj Public School, Panchkula, in the opening boys match of the 11th CBSE (Cluster XIII) Inter-School Basektball Championship for boys and girls at the NPS courts in Sector 18 here today.
Making their intention clear that they mean business from the word go, NPS boys raced to a 23-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.Satluj Public School put up a good resistance in the second quarter which they went down fighting by 8-9. NPS dominated the third and fourth quarters which they won by 26-3 and 29-0.
The NPS trio of Tsetan (12), Satish (10) and Anshuman (8) gave the Panchkula school a harrowing time. Reekrit scored four points for Satluj.
In the girls section, Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36 defeated Tribune Model School, Sector 29 by 16-3. Preet Kamal (6) and Sonal 8) were the main scorers for the winners. Yogita scored three points for the losers.
Formidable Sacred Heart, Sector 26, Chandigarh outplayed Durga Public School, Solan by 25-6. The winners established a commanding 10-0 lead at the end of first quarter. Ravleen topscored with 10 points and Sukhmani made five points for the winners. Vijya (4) waged a lone battle for the Solan school.
KC Public School of Jammu outplayed Sophia Convent, Kalka by recording an easy win by 36-3 points.
The KCP duo of Monica Zutshi (18) and Diksha Nehra (10) repeatedly pierced the Sophia Convent to sink baskets. Kananda (3) scored all points for the Kalka school.
Another school from Jammu, J.K Public prevailed over Doon International, Mohali by 15-8.
Main scorers of winning team were Mehak (5) and Ayushi (4). Kunwadee served Doon school well by contributing 6 points.
Bhawan Vidhalaya, Sector 27 defeated MHAC, Jammu by 16-8. Aman and Lovepreet were their principal scorerers with 8 and six points, respectively. Kanupriya (4) reduced the margin for the losers.
However, in the boys section, MHAC of Jammu recorded a well-earned 55-37 verdict against Doon International, Mohali. The main scorers for winners were: Prashant (23) and Anubhav (12). Ankush (16) and Nut (10) put up good show for the losers.
In an all-Chandigarh contest D.A.V.S.S.S, Sector 8 proved too strong for Ajit Karam Singh International Public School, Sector 41 as the former won by 30-9. Satnam (16) and Yesjot (6) were the star performers for the winners. Gaurav contribyuted eight points for AKSIPS.
A sterling display by Rajat (34) and well supported by Rajat Sharma (14) helped BL Central of Solan to outclass Tribune Model, Sector 29, Chandigarh by 60-5 points. Ashish (3) was the main scorer for losers.
