Chandigarh, 6 August : Hiroshima Day was observed on the Campus of Buddha Vihar Temple Khuda Ali Sher to pay homage to those innocent people who died in Hiroshima as a result of dropping of Atom Bomb by the U.S.A. on 6th.Auguest 1945.The students and teachers of Government High School, Khuda Ali Sher,Naya Gaon and Kansal ,participated.
The Rally was flagged off by the Environment Soeity of India, President, and S.K.Sharma and painting contest launched by Mr. Mohan Lal, principal of the school. The function was organised by the Environment Society of India in collaboration with the Buddhist Association of Chandigarh.Mr.Subhash Barua, President of the Association welcomed the participants.
Mr. Pradip Chhabra ,Mayor Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh, was the Chief Guest .A two minutes silence was observed and a prayer for World Peace led by Ven.Suman pal Bhikku was held.
Mr Chhabra said that global peace is essential for mankind and development .He urged the Chandigarh Administration to observe Hiroshima Day by holding lectures at the morning Assemblies in all the schools.
Mr. Pradip Chhabra presented a Hiroshima for world Peace trophy to Mr. Mohan Lal, principal of the Govt, High Shool, and Khuda Ali Sher for school participation in Hiroshima Day function for the last twenty years. He also distributed the prizes to winners of painting and slogan contest.
