PLEDGE TO ENROLL 10,000 PEACE VOLUNTEERS (SHANTI SAINIKS) August 6: Today, as part of a Harmony Week Yuvsatta, Peace Club of KB DAV Sr. Sec. School, Sector 7 B & New India Assurance Co. Ltd. organized HIROSHIMA DAY observance in KB DAV-7.
Around 500 Students from 22 different Schools of the city participated in the same. Mr. Justice Parmod Kohli, Judge, Punjab & Haryana High Court was the Chief Guest on the occasion, who also honoured winners of an Inter-School Essay/Poetry Writing Contest on the theme of ‘Forgiveness’.
Welcoming the Chief Guest Mrs. Madhu Bahl, Principal of the School and State Level Coordinator of ‘Campaign for Peace-city Chandigarh’, said, "Passing on to younger generations the memories and the will of those who suffered the nuclear bombing is the most important step for humankind to survive in the 21st century," She further announced that they with active participation of all the 112 Peace Clubs of the city and guidance of volunteers of Yuvsatta will enroll 10,000 youngsters in this city as Peace Volunteers (Shanti Sainiks). Peace volunteers will be given special badges for recognition and will also be trained in disaster management.
Quoting Gandhi the Chief Guest Mr. Justice Parmod Kohli said, "An eye for an eye, will make the whole world blind". He further added "all that t is needed is the will, and children like you who can raise voice against WARS, who not only think peace with a vision of peace to see every human being on the planet as our sister and brother, to love our neighbors and our enemies, to learn in the end that we all are one. Justice Kohli also appreciated the organizers for conducting an Inter-School Essay and Poetry writing contest on the theme of "FORGIVENESS". He said by inculcating the virtue of ‘Forgiveness’ in life and society, we can save ourselves from the growing threat of day by day increasing violence and WARS in the world.

Peace Club members of KB DAV-7 also organised a face painting workshop on the theme of ‘SAY NO TO WARS & YES TO PEACE’ on the occasion.
