The India Post, 1st Chandigarh, November,2008 :Hindu Nationalism or Hindu nation is not a concept of any "ism" or political ideology it should be understood as a way of life that leads to an ideal coordination between man and environment said Mohan Bhagwat, the General Secretary (Sar Karyavaha) of RSS. He was delivering 18th Panchnad lectures organised by Chandigarh-based Panchnad Research Institute here today.
He said that the science that binds spiritualism and materialism together is Sanatana Dharma (eternal moral ethical code). Highlighting the four phases of individual’s life, four types of objectives (purusharthas) and also four types of forces Bhagwat declared that the scientists of ancient India, the rishis and munis, had comprehended the reality of the universe and had devised a way of life that is tune with nature.
Bhagwat said it appears that it is the holy destiny of our country, Bharat, to deliver to the world the recipe for a harmonious and nature friendly way of living. He said India’s identity lies in the eternal balance between various forces and only this kind of identity will bring honor and dignity to its inhabitants. Neither spiritualism nor scientific developments alone can bring peace and harmony to the entire humanity said Bhagwat. He contended that a balanced combination of science and spiritualism alone leads to universal integrated identity of entire humanity. He was presented with an abhinandan patra, shawl and memento on behalf of PRI. Earlier he released a book on HINDU NATIONALISM – A CONTEMPORARY PERSPECTIVE published by Panchnad Research Institute.
Himachal Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal who presided over the lecture, released a souvenir brought out to mark the occasion. He commended the good work done by Panchnad in the region during the past 25 years. He regretted that Hindutva has been maligned by pseudo-secularists. It was the soul of our nationhood. Dhumal emphasized the need to aim at the creation of universal brotherhood based upon the ancient Indian wisdom.
Dr Bajrang Lal Gupta, a renowned economist and a member of PRI Steering Committee talked about the activities of the Institute in Northwestern region. It conducts research, field studies and run study centres in Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Himcahal.
