Dr. Avnish Jolly, Chandigarh, 2nd March, 2009 :Haryana Raj Bhawan saves Rs 480,000 on power bill, following the recommendation of Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) the state Bhawan has saved nearly 120,000 units of power in 2008.
Ashok Lavasa, Chairman, said that he government-run HAREDA which conducted energy audit in the Raj Bhawan had recommended several steps to optimise the energy consumption level and it was recommended that there was a potential to save 120,000 units annually on adoption of energy efficient measures with an investment of Rs 16 lac. Lavasa also disclosed that the entire investment would be recovered within three-and-a-half years through saving on electricity bill.
Spokesperson for the Raj Bhawan further stated that the office started implementing the recommendations, including replacing power consuming devices with energy efficient equipment from March 1, 2007.
Sumita Misra, Director, HAREDA said that Haryana is one of the few states in the country where the scheme of energy audit of government buildings was launched and while implementing the recommendations in the Raj Bhawan, all energy inefficient devices were replaced by energy efficient equipment.
