Chandigarh 26 September 2010: Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, National President and Member of Parliament Sh. Anurag Singh Thakur has appointed Gurparvez Singh Sandhu SHELLAY as State President of BJYM Punjab.
Gurparvez Singh Sandhu, a lawyer by profession, he hails from Village Jhoke Mohre in Ferozepur district of Punjab. He has been actively associated with youth politics since college time and first joined ABVP in 1997 and has been the Vice-President and President of DAV College Chandigarh. He had also contested Presidential Elections in Panjab University in 2004 and had polled highest number of votes for ABVP till date. He remained as State Secretary of Yuva Morcha Chandigarh and State Executive Member of Yuva Morcha Punjab. He had also contested Zila Parishad elections in 2008 from Ferozpur on BJP ticket as the youngest and the highest polling BJP Candidate in Punjab.
Sandhu says his first priority would be to strengthen the base of party in youth of Punjab. He says he wants to eradicate unemployment and drugs abuse from the youth of Punjab and inculcate nationalism in them. As a first, he would initiate tree plantation drives on a mass scale followed by blood donation camps all over the state. He has plans to reach out to the educated youth studying in colleges and universities of Punjab. Himself coming from rural background, he wants to make the youth living in villages to indulge in sports and other constructive activities and join the mainstream.
