Chandigarh, April 29- There is good news for power consumers of Gurgaon. The state government has started working on providing uninterrupted reliable 24X7 power supply in coming 12 months. For achieving this target, a Model Smart Grid will be developed for Gurgaon, which will be a model in the country. This task will be achieved jointly by Industrialists, Developers, Government and Power Corporation of India Limited on Public-Private-Partnership model on mission mode.
The Power Secretary of Haryana Rajan Gupta, Municipal Commissioner Gurgaon Vikas Gupta, Deputy Commissioner T L Satyaprakash and Chairman & Managing Director of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) R N Naik have been entrusted to prepare proposal of this model, in which the present status of power supply and measures required to be taken to supply adequate power to the consumers in Gurgaon. This proposal will be sent to the Union Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal.
This was revealed by Union Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal while addressing the media persons after seeing the presentation on need to develop Smart Grid for Gurgaon City at Corporate Office of Power Grid at Gurgaon today. He said that while developing the model, stress will be on use of new and Renewable Energy and also on energy efficient buildings. Mr Gupta said that it will be also seen that from where finance will be arranged for developing this model, so that the burden did not pass on the consumers. He said that after a period of 12 months, people will find physical change in Gurgaon City as far as electricity supply is concerned. He said that the task of developing Smart Grid will be monitored on monthly basis and the Chief Minister will also analyze the work on quarterly basis. He said that if some modification is required in Development Plan of Gurgaon for upgradation or setting up of new power substation.
He said that the exercise of preparing this presentation was going on for the last 15 days in consultation with senior officers of district administration, Industrialists, Businessmen and Realtors to develop technically efficient and secure Smart Grid. The prospective power demand of coming 20 years in Gurgaon City will be taken into account. On this occasion, the Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that in order to provide reliable power supply in Gurgaon, efforts were being made under the guidance of Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal and assistance of PGCIL. This was discussed in detail today. Union Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjeet Singh, Haryana PWD Minister Rao Narbir Singh and MLA Pataudi Bimla Chaudhary were also present.
